Trademark & Usage Policy draft v0.1

Status: draft — under counsel review (A7). The presence and text of this policy follow the standard SDO policy inventory; substance changes land only through counsel review.

The marks. “Agent Authority Standards Institute,” the AASI acronym, and the names of AASI specifications (collectively, “the Marks”) identify the standards body and its work.

Permitted without further permission.

• Nominative reference: accurately referring to the Agent Authority Standards Institute, its specifications, or its process.
• Accurate conformance statements: stating that an implementation conforms to a named, versioned AASI specification, where the claim is true and is stated per the specification's own Conformance section. Conformance claims should cite their supporting verification record (a sealed, independently re-derivable attestation) — an unverifiable conformance claim may be publicly noted as such.
• Specification use: implementing the specifications under their published license (Community Specification License 1.0).

Not permitted.

• Use of the Marks in a product, service, company, or domain name, or in any manner implying endorsement, certification, sponsorship, or affiliation that has not actually been granted.
• Claims of “certification” absent a genuine sealed attestation issued under a certification program; self-assessments must be labeled as self-assessed.
• Alteration of the Marks, or their use to disparage the Institute or misrepresent its work.

The distinguishing rule. In AASI's ecosystem, legitimacy is demonstrable: genuine attestations re-derive from their sealed records. When in doubt, check the record — claims that cannot be checked should not borrow the Marks' credibility.
